Pros and cons of Hell on Earth (3D FPS) app for iPhone and iPad

Hell on Earth (3D FPS) app good for

This is essentially a Doom emulator which offers some amazing single player content for an incredibly low price. If you enjoyed apps like Doom Classic or Duke Nukem, then you will consider this money well spent. It is prone to crashing occasionally, and one is forced to listen to the in-game soundtrack (there is no available option to stream music directly from your music library, like there is in Doom Classic). Essentially, this is the poor mans Doom, though I could hardly ask for a better app considering the price.
Its a nice DooM-based game but the game crashes every time you exit a level. Please fix this soon
This is a doom clone that if titled differently could pass off as a sequal to ID softwares doom on the app store. It is that direct with how much is copied and pasted. Overall it is a great game and better than that other doom game on the app store and five bucks cheaper. The game needs some fixes as it randomly crashes at some points and the icon is as ugly as they get.
Hello! This is exactly like I.D. Doom games .... Only ..... CHEAPER! Who can complain? Trust me, its a great FPS for .99 cents! These other reviews dont seem real. Im glad I bought it.
The game is awesome!!! I was afraid because it was only $1, but it is really good!. Controls are fantastic!!! I thought I was missing looking up or down but you dont need to do that on the game. It runs very good. I felt as if playing Doom on my itouch. For $1 is a bargain. The only thing is that the enemies are placed really bad sometimes. There are places you are being attacked from everywhere. The good thing is you can control how hard the game is.
As a man who has been playing doom since 90 somthing. I lobe this game. Its a great use of the engine and has great origanal enemys. Id rather play this than doom because ive been there done that in doom. This is a different expereice. So thanks guys for this great take on a legendary franchise. Im really glad I took a chance on this little gem .

Some bad moments

Original Doom game for iOS has much better controls. Enemies are badly designed, cant even tell what Im looking at.
I am really, truly getting sick and tired of Developers releasing these Doom clones with only ONE way to control the game. Now normally this would be fine If the one control scheme they gave us was good, but over and over and over again they keep giving us the crappiest control set up they can imagine. I will say this again, for the fifth time. Controlling an FPS on the iPhone requires one stick for moving forward, back, left and right. Then you either need another stick on the right side for looking around or simply let us swipe anywhere on screen instead. Giving us one stick that does it all is lazy, idiotic, broken, and ridiculous. If evey great FPS on the App store can do FPS controls properly than there is no reason why this game cant. See N.O.V.A or DOOM If you need to see how it is done properly. DOOM atleast offers you a lot of ways to change the controls to your liking. Stay away until the controls are fixed.
I really enjoyed the first level of this game. Graphics are decent, and it played smoothly. However, the second time I picked it up to play level 2, the game started lagging and slowing down after about 30 seconds. It does this every time I play now. PLEASE FIX!!!!
Dont bite my head off; Illl explain exactly why this is better than Doom (in some repects). 1. Right now, its $1. Even if its half the game Doom is, the value is still above the price. 2. Its basically a Doom sequel because it has almost the same graphics, but completely different levels and enemies. 3. Its more challenging than Doom even on lower difficulties, and there are cooler guns sooner, but that doesnt make it any easier. 4. It is a Doom copy. Play Doom on iPod. This has all the same features. For $0.99. Awesome. However, a nasty bug boots me out ofthe game every few minutes or so, and that kills it. Fix the bug, and this is a darn fine game. UPDATE!!
Game is interesting, but frustrating to play due to clear presence of bugs. First it plays smooth, then it starts stuttering in a min or so and eventually crashes, like it has a memory leak or something. Have to save all the time and restart the app. Frustrating considering that my home button is not very good. Controls are great, just like doom classic. Graphics is not as good as doom classic, but OK. With stuttering/crashing fixed this app can be worth $2 or $3, even though it violates the spirit of "FreeDoom" by having a price tag on the first place. Btw, whats the deal with a "Freedoom: graphics not finished." on a spiderdemon?
This game has never been fixed. For that, you get 1 star. It has been a long time. Updated review: a few minor changes has made this game more playable. I found the fire button. It is invisible and in the top right corner of the screen. I moved it to the bottom right corner. To turn on tilt to turn, tap the screen with 4 fingers and type the command "tiltturn 4500" and press enter. The game is now more enjoyable. Try using the doom cheat codes. They work. Original review: This game is missing the fire button. Please add it to the options menu so I may move it where I need it. This game is also lacking tilt to turn. My prefered control setup is as follows: Left stick to move and strafe Accelerometer to turn (aim) Dedicated fire button on bottom right of screen. This game is inspired by doom and looks pretty good. I couldnt find a good control option so I never made it through the first level. Double tap to fire is a horrible control option for firing your primary means of defense. I will resubmit a review if control options are "fixed". In my opinion they are (or feel) broken.
